TCF Canada vs. TEF Canada: Which Should You Take?
Both are equally accepted by IRCC for Express Entry, but they differ in who administers them, the exam format, and how you'd prep for each. Knowing the difference before you register saves you from retaking the wrong one.

IRCC accepts both TCF Canada and TEF Canada for Express Entry — results from both convert to the same NCLC scale the Canadian government uses to score applications. Neither certificate is "worth more" than the other for immigration purposes in general.
What's the actual difference?
TCF Canada is administered by France Éducation international (FEI), a body under the French Ministry of Education. Listening and Reading are computer-based multiple choice with difficulty increasing question by question, which makes it easier to measure your progress while training.
TEF Canada is administered by the Paris Île-de-France Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCI Paris), typically through the Alliance Française network. Question style and format across Listening/Reading/Speaking/Writing differ from TCF, and whether the exam is paper- or computer-based can vary by test center.
